Mother’s Day can be a rip off

Mother’s Day, like all other similar holidays, can be a big rip-off. If your Mother can’t wait to go out another time then here are the best deals I could find and some money saving tips.

Mother’s Day in the time of Coronavirus

If you can safely visit your mother and bring food there are many options.  Another option, depending on where she lives, would be to send her food and have a Zoom meal.  Prices do not include delivery fees, tax and tip.  Booze extra.  Order early some restaurants have cut-off dates.

In 2021 indoor dining has resumed at 50% capacity so if you are going out make reservations early as restaurants may fill up quickly.

Under $50 and ways to save

Here are some of the better deals around town.  I looked for deals under $50 with a substantially lower rate for children.  The options range from brunch, buffet to full dinner.  Always call to confirm as prices may change. Call for Reservations or make them online here.

  • The Capital Grille, 633 North St. Clair Street, (312) 337-9400. 10AM-2PM. Three-course brunch Adults $49, children $15
  • Devon Seafood Grill, 39 E Chicago Ave, (312) 440-8660 Brunch buffet 10am-3pm. $48 per person/$16 children 12 and under.
  • Fig & Olive Chicago, 104 E. Oak St., (312) 445-0060. Brunch 10am-3:45pm $42 Prix Fixe or limited a la carte.  Dinner 4pm-9pm $49 or limited a la carte.
  • HUB 51, 51 W. Hubbard, (312) 828-0051. 9AM-3PM. All you can eat brunch buffet $40/$15 under 12/under 3 free. Usually have Bloody Mary & Mimosa Bar for $8. Not confirmed at publication time.  Get 12% off with Lettuce Entertain You Gift Card deal.
